August 1st

Back to the market again for breakfast. Juice, pastries, and espresso. I wish we had this back home. Watched the guys cut fish for awhile today, so fast...

Went to Pollo Rico for lunch today. Another spot Blake told me about, said he lived off this place. Came the other night for tapas. Squid two ways, grilled and fried. Sardines with lemon, fried peppers, and chicken necks... I think! Couldn't understand what he was calling them?!? They were awesome, braised down til super tender. Reall good, but I had to come back for the rotisserie chicken they have cookin in the front window. Comes with fried potatoes and that's it. They did have a spicy sauce they served with, which was nice because they really don't like spicy food here. They even go to the front and cut it fresh off the cooker for each order. It was great! Super cheap, and delicious...

Dinner at Enoteca was cool. Did the tasting menu. 4 rounds of tapas, 6 courses, and three desserts. Really cool flavors and textures, got some pics of the food.

Just a random church on the way home, i like the architecture here.

Candy at the market

Lobster carpaccio at Enoteca

One of the desserts, chocolate "obulatu" chip, with chocolate, vanilla, and cherry ice cream.

Flowers and veggies at the market

This is sea cucumber with basil and sundried tomato. Tossed in a citrus vin. This was a first for me, so I can't compare it, but really good. Super tender, similar to a razor clam if ya have very had that?!?

First G an T in a normal glass!

This was another dessert, pistachio sponge cake, with mint granita, coco ice cream. Weird, but pretty good

Dried fruit & nuts at market

Next is Gambas. Smoked lobster risotto with broiled prawn, "Gamba.". Good, but they like to just barely cook their shrimp here. I guess since it is such high quality, but I like my shrimp
cooked. Not overcooked, but not raw in the middle...

Shrimp tartar with almond ice cream and a melon gelee. Now I just said I don't like raw shrimp, but it kinda worked here. It was chopped so small, that with all the different textures, it was pretty good.

Chicken necks? I think, lol? I know it was chicken:-). With fried peppers and sardines at Pollo Rico

Last course, been waitin for this one. Suckling pig, sous vide and roasted, with crispy skin. Served with apple ice cream in a fresh apple peel, with spheres of cinnamon apple. Killer dish!

White fish, not sure what, with vanilla foam and fresh flowers.

This was just some little pastry I got for breakfast. Forget the name, but was watching them roll out the dough, she talked me into it. Really good, crispy outside with a soft "white bread" in the middle.
