July 5th part 2

Woke up to some crazy Indian (red dot) unpacking about fifty plastic bags, smelling like he hasn't showered in a week! I mean... Well I got my first shotty roomate.

But work was great... Right in the beginning of service, Luc (owner!) says to me, "let me taste the BBQ sauce, I haven't tasted it yet and one of the guests says the dont care for it." Are you serious?!?

He was just kidding with me. They start laughing.... They got me good!

Then we finished a little early, and so we cleaned up a little extra, and went into dinning room with Luc, Aniel(I think, waitress) and had some drinks. Then walks in Benoit(i think, concierge)from our hotel for the weekend, he's the guy that got me the gig. So, he is married to the waitress I figured out. Crazy, but makes sense... We hung out til the last table left, then took off for the night. That's was cool too, the entire staff (all 5 of us) and Benoit, were all at a table drinking and talking with two tables right next to us. It was so normal to them, but that would never happen back home. Glad I found this place, even if only for a few days.

Pics... Srry bout the order. Steph, lil help?!?

Sliced ham, with baked tomato bread and baguette. So good! He calls it "Plata Negra.". You take really crusty baguette, baked til super crispy, toss in like a tomato vin, and bake. Really really good!

Veal chop with potato purée, green salad, and Texas BBQ

The kitchen...

Lobster with salad of celery carrot peels, red and yellow peppers, and fennel with a vanilla vin.

Basil pea soup, with poached egg, olive oil, and flur de sel (really good salt)

Menu planning already!!! Sounds good... Pastacio eclairs, somethin marinades in kiwi, and duck with balsamic

Havin a smoke...

Four gras with some crazy Jam/Chutney. Can't even explain the flavor, I've been wanting to try something like this, completely new to me. Kinda like a smoked eggplant, but with something else. Hopefully we make that tomorrow...

Pork with sautéed mushrooms and jus. "Real French cooking," as the say...

Gary... My new French surfer friend

DuDu, steward (dishwasher)... Doesn't speak a single word of English! Good guy

Luc and Benoit

I hate this beer, but it tastes so good over here on my way home...

Took a few pics on my way to hostel, just to let ya know what the beautiful streets of Paris look like...

  1. I am so happy you have found this great little place. I can tell in your voice that you are thrilled as well. Keep it up. I'll admit none of the food looks that yummy to me, oh well. :)

OK, for the pictures-- i've got nothing!! sorry. looks like the way you are doing it might be the only way. i'll keep at it and see if i can come up with something.

  2. Sounds like you are having a blast. Always get hungry when I read. Way to go on not giving up on those crazy frenchies. They can be a total pain in you know what. And all those little things, like small spaces, doing laundry, no ac, stinky people, all those things don't really matter when you are in Paris.
